Robert owes a great deal of his recovery to Modern Wing Chun Kung Fu and to his Sifu, Eric Oram, who serves as combat consultant on the Sherlock Holmes films as well as being Robert’s personal trainer. Here are some of Robert’s comments about this martial art:

“Sometimes I’ll be with Parker and I’ll just say, ‘She’s a girl and I’m a guy.’ Those are just words. It’s so funny because some parts of our relationship are so completely the opposite. In the kitchen, she’s more masculine and I’m like, ‘Show me how to do things.’”

RDJ says of his father:

“Dad’s great! He’s hilarious. I’ve laughed a lot, and I think I’ve had an accelerated education. It beats school. I couldn’t wait to get home from school and start learning.”

Robert says he wants to be a llama.

Well, he owns four of them and they appear in this fun video starring son Indio Falconer Downey, who searches for his missing goats.

Robert’s sister Allyson remembers: “I went away one summer, and by the time I came back, Robert had converted my room into a love nest, a bachelor room. He didn’t tell his friends I was back; they’d come in, in the middle of the night, and try to make out on top of me.”

This photo of a rapt Mr. Downey watching his son play guitar calls to mind the eloquent words of Esquire journalist Scott Raab, the one Robert calls “Dude”, when observing father and son one night:

“I know that he is finally silent, finally beyond words.”

Prepping for the “Avengers” shoot, Robert stops in the comic book store to buy up all the research material.

The blonde-streaked Robert is Hans in “Friends and Lovers”. In Rogueseye’s opinion, he is the best thing in the movie by far.
